This album carries the spirit of the room where icons like Al Green and Tina Turner recorded — and you can feel that history in every note. This record honors the lineage of artists like Nina Simone, Betty Davis, Abbey Lincoln, Aretha Franklin, and Irma Thomas — artists who said what needed to be said, and sang it with truth.
