Quiana Lynell is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, international award-winning jazz vocalist, and dynamic live performer whose artistry bridges tradition, storytelling, and modern soul. Rooted in the rich musical soil of Louisiana and shaped by more than two decades of professional performance and education experience, Lynell brings both technical mastery and emotional depth to every stage she steps on.
Lynell rose to international prominence after winning the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, a career-defining honor that positioned her among the leading voices of her generation. Known for its rigorous standards and global reach, the competition celebrates vocalists who embody the spirit, innovation, and virtuosity of jazz. Lynell’s win affirmed what audiences had already begun to recognize: a commanding voice paired with fearless interpretive skill.
Most recently, Lynell toured nationally in a 10-week run with Jazz at Lincoln Center, one of the world’s most respected jazz institutions. Performing on stages across the country, she delivered electrifying sets that highlighted her range—from tender ballads to groove-driven, hip-swaying originals that have earned her the nickname “The Hip Shakin’ Momma.” Her work with Jazz at Lincoln Center reflects her standing as a torchbearer of the art form and a compelling ambassador for live performance.
