Education & Vocal Instruction

Your Body Is the Instrument

Jazz artists have long served as griots — storytellers and culture bearers — entrusted with preserving legacy while shaping what comes next. As a jazz vocalist, songwriter, and educator with over 20 years of teaching experience, Quiana Lynell embraces that responsibility both onstage and in the studio.

Quiana’s approach to vocal instruction is holistic, personalized, and deeply embodied. A certified educator trained in Kagan instructional strategies, Alexander Technique, yoga, breathwork, and Tai Chi, she understands that no two voices — or bodies — are the same. Rather than teaching a one-size-fits-all method, she leans into differentiation, meeting each student exactly where they are.

Drawing from decades as a global touring artist, Quiana specializes in tone production and vocal longevity — prescribing individualized techniques that integrate vocal function, physical alignment, breath efficiency, and emotional connection. Lessons are designed not only to improve sound, but to build confidence, stamina, freedom, and self-trust in the voice.

Jazz — the original popular music — gives artists permission to combine timbres, traditions, and stylings to curate a sound that is uniquely their own. Quiana brings this philosophy into every lesson, helping students unlock their natural voice while honoring their musical influences and personal goals. Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned professional, a touring artist, or a speaker seeking vocal sustainability, her instruction focuses on practical tools you can immediately apply.

At the heart of Quiana’s teaching is a simple truth:
your body is the instrument.

Her mission is to help each student harness that instrument with intention — cultivating a voice that is healthy, expressive, and authentically theirs.
